The minute amounts of agar needed can be difficult to measure. One trick is to make a 0.1x strength agar by mixing of agar with 90 g of sugar. For a recipe that calls for 0.5 g agar you then use 5g of the 0.1x agar/sugar mixture. But keep in mind that you do add a small amount of sugar, so this is not suitable in every recipe.
